Are you getting married overseas? How about a ‘Legals Only’ ceremony at one of the airport hotels just prior to you boarding for your destination wedding overseas?
This is a great way to share the ceremony with the people who are flying out with you, just before you head over to the airport. Let the fun being before you leave Melbourne!!
Something to remember about an overseas wedding is that if you do all the legal components of the marriage overseas, then it can be a bit more difficult to organise your name changes for passports, licences, etc. Documents can take longer to come back to you, etc.
Doing your legals here in Australia makes it much easier for you in the long run.
Here’s what we need to do:
Step 1
Book a table (or a private room) at one of the airport hotels.
Step 2
Complete and lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage with me at least one clear month before your wedding date. We set an appointment to do this at my home, or a cafe in Mount Waverley (just off the Monash Freeway). I will review all associated documents at this important meeting to make sure everything is in order.
Step 3
Let’s Get Married! A ‘Legals Only’ ceremony only takes about 10 minutes or so. I will legally wed you, and then we will sign the appropriate paperwork. You will need 2 witnesses over 18 years of age. This will be performed at a location booked by you near Tullamarine Airport.
